Brothers' Day 2013

THEME:
CARRIER OF GODS POWER
TEXT: Exodus. 33:15, 1 Corinthians 4:20, Matthew. 9:8
What is a carrier? A carrier is something that carries something (dictionary definition)
Carrier of his power [god] means Christians carry power in and outside of them. Most importantly is that carriers of his power are barrier breakers. It’s the presence of god that distinguishes a man that presence signifies power.

STEPS TO BE A CARRIER OF GODS POWER
·        Be a man of the secret place [ps. 91:1]. Most power exercised in the kingdom of god is not a product of public places rather a product of secret places. Secret place doesn’t mean been just in a lonely place, but it’s a place where the holy spirit himself takes you to [Romans 8:14]. Secret place is a place of sacrifice, prayer fasting, fellowship with the holy spirit. Once a man’s secret place is terminated, it means his power is gone. Jesus was a product of secret place, Elijah, Abraham, etc. The only way to secret place is divine leadership by the holy spirit himself.
·        Must be a man of violence: after an encounter with god in the secret place you cease to be a mere man but an extraordinary man. Matt. 11:12. The kingdom of god suffers violence so the guarantee to survive as Christians is to be violent. Violence comes because of power.
As Christians, we ought to know our survival is power because what makes the kingdom of stands also is because of power but we are distinguished because, greater or greatest power lives in us. Mystery behind MAN[mandate after name], behind every man’s name is a mystery, so what God is doing tomorrow/today is releasing mandates to men but on the condition of hearts that are ready to receive the power to change all situations in a man’s life. Victory is ours because of God's dunamis.
                                                       PASTOR ISAAC A. OBADIAH
                                                 FELLOWSHIP ADMINISTRATOR

MESSAGE BEHIND THE SONG

The song lies in the same direction as the theme for Brothers Day and the motto for man of valour (brothers in PFM). ‘’CARRIER OF GODS POWER’’ people who have the grace of god and carry the power of god have no limits to how far they would go in representing god as the light of the world and salt of the earth.
So as carriers of the power of god, we subdue strongholds and powers that are opposed to the power of god as ‘’AMBASSADOR OF CHRIST’’.

THE PURPOSE OF FAILURE
CALISTUS ANEKE

Failure as a term has existed in the heart of man, even upon creation where Adam failed to keep gods promise.
The moment you fail and think you cannot make it anymore then that is where the problem of indecisiveness comes in. One cannot appreciate success unless you have passed through failure before.
For one to succeed as a true believer, he must know of the existence of god and trust in him, Proverbs 3:5 which says ‘’trust in the lord with all thy heart and never lean on your own understanding’’. The moment we begin to feel proud and think that we have arrived which is the real sense as the bible says that ‘’our wisdom is the foolishness of the lord, but if we trust, believe and ask of him anything and all things acknowledging him as our creator in all sincerity’’. Matt. 7:7-10 ‘’ask and it will be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives and he who seeks finds and to him who knocks it will be open ’’ These words of the bible cannot lie yet most people ask and don’t receive. Nevertheless, the authenticity of the bible remains whole because the problem is never at the giving angle [god], but it is at the receiving angle [we humans].
The mode and manner one asks for some certain things will determine if there will be response, the way we address our earthly father determines if we will acquire what we ask for.
In as much as a lady ought to be single in order to be married and acknowledge marriage, so it is when we think we have failed; no matter the ramification of life it is coming from we should know it happened in order for us to appreciate success when it comes, most great men in the bible experienced success but though failure sprang in because of pride and over-confidence. The moment you think you have arrived then that is the beginning of your downfall. Prov. 1:7.
For one to succeed, firstly acknowledge god in his sovereign power and dominion, believing god and fearing him, in his son and having the holy spirit in the inside of us to enable us understand his word and the world around us.
Secondly, having a personal decision and working hard as well as been very positive about your success even though it’s not forthcoming.
Thirdly, have positive testimony and always believe in your success. God knows us personally and he knows our pain, hustle, struggle, desires, hate and love.
In a nutshell, he is waiting for us to ask properly because he is always waiting and willing to give it out but he will only give us if we ask humbly, appropriately and NOW.

Unlimited Abilities
By Kelechi Confidence

Nelson Mandela once said, “Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate but that we possess amazing powers far above our imaginations”. Wow, that’s amazing!!! When you look at yourself in the mirror what do you see? Do you see a 'nobody' with the description of guilt and inadequacies? Do you see an ugly past and a compromising future?
Well, I have got news for you. You are the best thing that has happened to the Earth. Within you is so much ability untapped and uncultivated. The story of the earth of the earth will not be complete with you.
Trust me. Modern science discovery says that the average human uses just 2-5% of the full mental capacity. There is so much in you that the world needs so badly. You are AMAZING.....CARRIER OF HIS POWER.

Boys of Truth
To...
Dear Boys of Truth,
I know January is too early in the year to regret anything. But quite a lot has happened. I am sorry to reach as anonymous. I hope my trust for you will grow with time. For now permit me to be 'X'. I have been through a lot. I am dirty. I have fallen short but I feel so much at war with myself. Keeping this secret has become fire in my bones.
I am male, 31, studying Software Engineering, post graduate level. I am a Christian, I am gay. I wake and sleep with guilt every day of my life. Most of the sermons in my church are homophobic. My Pastor always says that people like us are cursed and bound for hell.
I grew up to know this feeling. I have suppressed and acted on it on several occasions. I have a girl friend though she does not know yet. This year, the pressure has doubled from my family that I get married, my status as unmarried is beginning to raise eyebrows in my neighbourhood and community. But I still study my Bible. I still pray. But I thrive on the hope that I do not get exposed or commit suicide. What do I do? What is the truth?
Confused,
X

Reply From The Boys of Truth...

The nature of a man lies in the secret place of his thought (Anonymous). These further postulates that everything and anything a man is and would be can be traced to the aeon of his thought...It was further applauded by the Bible in Proverbs 23:7

Dear X,
One of the most critical moments of a man’s life is how he can tackle the issues of the heart and assert his belief in the ‘truth’. A man is he who has a heart, understands his heart issues, tries to tackle them and be victorious. You may be wealthy, good looking, successful, spiritual and smart but the tiny heart issue you cannot solve can destroy the big picture.
We live in a world where people saddle and nurse secret sins as a result of inferiority, dejection, confusion, depression, annoyance, low self esteem etc. The secret sins begin with an evil thought then it grows into attitudes and characters that form our personality. Sometimes you need more than studying your Bible and praying to end certain issues in your life especially when they are more emotional than physical. You need a transformation in your thinking habit and a strong will from within to end that quagmire in your life. To this end Daniel 1:8 postulate that Daniel made a strange determination not to defile himself with the Kings meat. You must make that peaceful resolution today:  After such peaceful resolution you must follow it up with a proper thinking system which is engineered and fuelled by the power of the word of God. For you to think right, you must think in line with the word of God. Romans 12:2. What does the Word of God say about you? It is also very important to employ the method of meditating. Shallow reading of the Bible does not make sense.
Another way out is: understanding your personality, knowing who you are and what you are meant to do. Genesis 1:26; Psalm 139:14. You can also seek decent female company.
Intensify your prayer life (Ephesians 6:13; James 5:17). It is pertinent to appreciate that some challenges are more spiritual than physical. Hence, you must engage your deliverance and victory through prayers.
In addition do not be indecently concerned with conversations, relationships and activities that do not edify you. You must ready to forge ahead. 2 Corinthians 6:14; Romans 12:1

Warm regards,
Boys of Truth

Girl on the Shelf
My name is Belteshazzar. I am from the royal line of Judah taken into captivity during the third reign of King Jehoiakim. I was uprooted amongst friends and family and placed in between strangers. This is my story...
On arriving Babylon, I was lost. But God did not leave me that way, so He sent three persons to cross my path. They were sent to me in order to help them grow in wisdom and fear of the Lord in spite of these strange people and customs. They were Hananiah, Misheal and Azariah of whom you all know as Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
On our arrival, I and our other cousins were to serve in the King’s court. That was a privilege as our food, security and life to an extent was guaranteed. Now a decree came from the King that we must eat at His table. This was like music to our ears because not only were we given the best, we were given better treats than our contemporaries outside the King’s court. We all were separated into units and these units had unit heads that reported to the King’s chief of staff assigned to this project.
That night I called my friends and we spoke at length for what to do. To this purpose, we decided to never partake of the King’s meal. My people, it was not easy to reach this decision for anything could have happened to any of us or in fact all of us. But we did not get to this alone for we sought the face of our God; THE HOLY COMMANDER OF THE ARMIES OF ISRAEL. You see it was easy for us to be disappointed in the light of what we had gone through but we did not because we knew that He is faithful and always will be. So we prayed.
The next day, I spoke to the unit head. I told him of our decision. He did not take it well. He in turn reported to the Chief of staff. My guy panicked for his life at which we had to strike a deal- that if at the end of ten days we failed to achieve what the King had in mind in setting up this project, then we all will get to eat from the King’s table.
But thanks to Yahweh who never fails us, at the expiration of those ten days, we looked better than our other cousins. The Chief of staff was so pleased with us that in fact he ordered us to continue with our ‘diet’ of vegetables. Thus we did until we were presented before the King. God did not fail us here for as we found favour before the chief of staff, so did we find greater favour before the king. What they all did not know was that we had to move a consideration from us. To us was given an unusual aptitude for understanding every aspect of literature and wisdom and I in particular had the special ability to interpret dreams and visions...
TO BE CONTINUED NEXT WEEK.
Wishing you all a successful exam and to my beloved brothers, a Glorious day being the 17th day in February 2013. HAPPY BROTHERS DAY
