The Power of Thought
Teaching
Topic: The Power of Thoughts
Text: Philippians 4: 8
Memory Verse: Proverbs 23:7
Focus: To help students
understand the great power behind their thoughts
Objective: Activating your
thinking power and changing your world with your thoughts
Introduction:
Thoughts have a great deal to do
with the destiny of any man. And all thoughts are conceived in the mind. The
beautiful thing about a believer is that we have the mind of Christ. 1
Corinthians 2:16- For “who has come to
know the mind of Jehovah, that he may instruct him?” But we do have the mind of
Christ. This
means we can think like God. God thinks but His thoughts are always positive.
God responds to your thoughts the same way as he does to your speech. Ephesians
3:20-Now to
the one who can, according to his power which is operating in us, do more than
superabundantly beyond all the things we ask or conceive. In God’s eyes, thoughts and speech
have the same weight. Mark 5:27-29- When she heard the things about Jesus,
she came behind in the crowd and touched his outer garment; 28 for
she kept saying: “If I touch just his outer garments I shall get well.” 29 And
immediately her fountain of blood dried up, and she sensed in her body that she
had been healed of the grievous sickness.
You can not deceive God with positive
confessions if they are not backed up with positive thoughts.
PRINCIPLES
OF THOUGHTS
·
The
quality of your life is determined by the state of your state of mind. Proverbs
23:7 For as one that has calculated within
his soul, so he is. “Eat and drink,” he says to you, but his heart itself is
not with you.
·
Your
actions are a product of your thoughts
·
You
cannot experience God’s blessings unless you have seen them with your mind’s eye.
Genesis 13:15-because all the land at which you are looking, to you and to your seed I
am going to give it until time indefinite. Ephesians 1:17-18- that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,
may give YOU a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the accurate knowledge of
him; 18 the eyes of YOUR heart having been enlightened,
that YOU may know what is the hope to which he called YOU, what the glorious riches are
which he holds as an inheritance for the holy ones,
·
Negative
thoughts are weapons of the devil to destroy you.(Your mind is a battle ground)
2 Corinthians 10-3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage warfare
according to [what we are in the] flesh. 4 For the
weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but powerful by God for overturning
strongly entrenched things. 5 For we are overturning
reasonings and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God; and we
are bringing every thought into captivity to make it obedient to the Christ; 2 Corinthians11:3- But I am afraid that
somehow, as the serpent seduced Eve by its cunning, YOUR minds might be
corrupted away from the sincerity and the chastity that are due the Christ. 1 Peter 1:13a Hence brace up YOUR minds for
activity, keep YOUR senses completely; set YOUR hope upon the undeserved
kindness that is to be brought to YOU at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
The
growth of your mind is as important as that of your spirit of God. Jeremiah 17:10.
Meditation is the key to improving your thoughts. Psalm 119:99-100,Phil 4:8.
SOLUTIONS TO THINKING PROBLEMS.
Cast down every negative thoughts through God’s word. 2 Cor 10:5,Phil 4:8
Don’t spend your time worrying about things you can’t
change. Matt 6:31.
Engage your mind in positive activities and spiritual
things. Col 3:1-2.
Mind your communication. Cor 15:33, Mark 4:24.
Trust in God and allow the Holy Spirit to do the work. Phil 2:13
STEPS TO ACTIVATING YOUR THOUGHTS.
Increase your knowledge in positive things and God’s word. Romans 12:2
Seiv what you look at and what you listen to. Prov 4:23, Mark 4:24a.
Fellowship with people who have the right mind set. Prov 13:20
Allow the Holy Spirit help you. 1 Cor 2:10-11.
Build an attitude of thanksgiving to God. Eph 5;20.
God created you
specially. Look out for the good things
in you. Psalm 139:14. Philemon 1:6.
CONCLUSION
Don’t let the devil keep you down through negative thoughts.
The choice is yours. God will not think for you. You have to think for yourself.
You have the mind of Christ. 1 Cor 2:16b, 2 Tim. 1:7
You can become
whatever you want If you can think it,
then God can make it happen. Activate your thinking power today.
YOU LOOK
LIKE YOUR THOUGHT.
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my
mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:
Marvellous are thy Works; and my soul knoweth right well. Psalm 139:13-14.
Now many of us have personal esteem problem due to what we
perceive as unattractive physical features. We don’t like the way we look. We
feel we are too fat or too slim; too short or tall; we don’t have a nice body
structure probably six pacs that will make
girls trip or hot legs and nice shape that will make a guy loose his
balance and fall. Because of this, we find ourselves trying so hard to change
the way we look be applying excessive make-up,facial cleanser, bleaching cream
and even starving ourselves. We do all these forgetting that we are made in the
image and likeness of God.
The bible says, ’’As a man thinketh in his hearth, so is
he’’. That means there is power in your opinion of yourself. How you think of
yourself will drastically affect the way others perceive you. If you think you
are unattractive or ugly, each time you look into the mirror, you will see
nothing but ugliness. But if you perceive yourself to be beautiful, then beauty
will automatically reflect in every part of you..
Due to our negative thoughts about ourselves, we end up
forcing someone to love us because we are so afraid that we might end up alone.
But let us bear in mind that we cannot force love. When you understand your
value and self worth in the Lord, you will not have any reason to beg anyone to
stay when he or she wants to leave. When you begin to think of your self as an
epitome of perfection, you will understand that break-up is not the end of love
rather it should be the beginning of an understanding that love sometimes
leaves for a reason but never leaves without a lesson. It all starts with the
MIND.
As you activate your thinking power, step out today as a
king, a queen made in the image and likeness of God. Our God is not ugly; he is
beautiful and so are you.
THE WAY IT CONCERNS YOU
To you who is stressed out this
day,
To all who seem to have lost
their way,
His will not yours should be the
page,
Upon the Rock who set the stage,
For you to be alive – know this,
Your very breath was His blessed
kiss,
To you who thinks you know them
all,
Well built by God and brain so
tall,
Though you may think you are in
control,
Until your fall becomes the roll,
Not of Rock where sin enfolds,
This story of yours has been
foretold,
Take time to know and learn of
other,
Who breathe thin day but not just
another,
A friend not for who also needs,
Someone like you to sow peace
seeds,
Solution ours to band as
brothers,
United front an act some smother,
Before you heard the voice of
truth,
Time would pass and show you
proof,
Of words that runs inside thin
day,
Inside of you to start today,
His voice you heard in providing
heart, will grow in you and make impact.

MESSAGE
The song explains that God is the
only one like Himself. His power is absolute and He is the sovereign God. God
is one whose place in our lives cannot be substituted by anything else, therefore
we worship Him in spirit and in truth because He alone is God. He is immortal,
omnipotent, Mighty, Invincible, and Unchangeable, so when we ascribe the Glory
and Honour that is due to His name and let Him be God in our lives, He shows us
that He is God alone.
GIRL
ON THE SHELF
For this cause I bow my knees to
the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ:
For what cause ? One may ask, for this cause, for that present
situation you are passing through, for that present circumstance...brothers I
did not understand the meaning of this very powerful statement until I applied
it in my life. I did not just thank Him for His past works, neither did I just
settle for thanking Him for His blessings only- I thanked Him for whatever
‘present situation’ I find myself in. All I have to do is to be careful for
nothing by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving and let my requests be
made known to God.
Now lets take a break and go down
memory lane; there are times when dad does not give you what you want or ask
for, or the few times you passed through hard times or... just recall those
terrible situations and help me answer this question: Do all those
circumstances make him any less than the father I know him to be especially in
contention of his antecedents? No it does not.
He still remains my father, and so it is with God.
In my walk with God, if I have
come to realise something, it is this- that whatever state I am in, not only is
He aware of it, He is always there to see me through it whether it is good bad
or ugly. A song writer succinctly puts in this form: “I bless you for all of
the bad and I bless you for all of the good and the place where I stand you
have already stood.”
I do not know if you get the
point I am trying so hard to state here but let me say that this is the 2nd
day of the twelfth month in the year 2012. Ask yourself these questions:
The courses I passed through this
year did I ever thank God for it?
This present circumstance, am I
thanking God for it?
Do I recognise His role in my
life and in the spirit of humble adoration, give Him Hid due praise and glory?
I recommend these questions not
because I want to judge but because but because I have come to realise that the
devil loves disenchanted, unfulfilled Christians. He tends to make develop the
habit of being unfaithful by only thanking God for the good and solving the
difficult by ourselves- thus making God our last resort instead of our first..
All is well as we all have come
to the last month of the year. Let us not forget to give praises and acknowledge
the One and only who had called Himself the name ‘I AM THAT I AM’- for He is
the God of this present cause.
THANKS AND GOD BLESS
With love ,
